What To Expect
We understand the uncertainties that come with a medical procedure, no less than one that involves our vision. Our Doctors and medical team want to make sure you are prepared and comfortable before scheduling and arriving for your visit at our Roanoke Valley Center. Click through our commonly asked questions about what to expect before your procedure.
- Wear comfortable, loose clothing with short sleeves and a button down shirt if possible. This ensures that we do not have to change your clothing for the blood pressure cuff and heart monitor.
- Leave all valuable at home, including watches, rings, earrings, and body-piercing jewelry.
- Do not wear any face lotions/creams, makeups, perfumes/colognes, or aftershave to your surgery.
- Use eye drops as instructed by your surgeon’s office.
- You may bring hearing aids and glasses for your procedure. *Please remember to bring their protective cases with you for storage during your procedure.
- Bring your insurance cards, a form of identification (ex. your drivers license), and a form of payment for copays/deductibles due.
- Bring your eye drops with you.
- Bring your surgery kit with you on the day of surgery (includes your sunglasses, eye shield, and tape)
- Bring your completed medication list form (white form) and medical history form (blue form) with you on the day of surgery. * If you did not receive a blank copy of these forms, they will be given to you to complete on the day of your surgery.
- Do not eat anything for at least 8 hours before your surgery arrival time. You may have clear liquids up to 2 hours before your surgery arrival time unless instructed otherwise by your surgeon’s office.
- Do not stop any routine medication unless instructed by your surgeon’s office. You may take your medications with small sips of water on the day of surgery.
- You must have a driver with you that will stay at the surgery center during your entire visit (from check-in to discharge).
- Please do not bring small children if possible.
- You will be scheduled for a return appointment for either the same day or the day after your surgery. This appointment will be given to you on the day of your surgery before you leave.
